English Department at Parktown Boys’ High School

 

Staffing:

Parktown Boys’ English Department has a number of well-qualified, experienced staff. This year we are pleased to announce that Mr E Rabe has joined our team. Mr Rabe has had an extensive acting and teaching career and brings a lot of experience in these fields to the classroom. We continue to embrace new methods in teaching and as one of the most creative departments in the school, we persevere in making the teaching of English fun.

Technology:

We continue to introduce contemporary technological advancements to our teaching. Smart boards and video projectors ensure that boys are given the opportunity to be shown different things to enhance their learning. The boys also have opportunities to present their oral tasks in a more modern and creative way.

 

Reading:

We continue to promote reading. This vital component of learning tends to be overlooked in an age where the internet and cellphone communication have taken priority in many homes. Television and video games as forms of entertainment rather than a good book have also negatively affected learning in English. Encourage your son to read and you may discover that his marks improve, not only in English, but in other subjects too.
