WORLD KNOWLEDGE OLYMPIAD

The aim of the Olympiad is to test the general knowledge of high school learners and to encourage them to expand this knowledge by reading widely. Issues that are covered are largely current topics drawn from newspapers, periodicals, books, encyclopaedias; as well as from radio, television and the internet.

2008

Having entered just six candidates in this Olympiad in 2007, such has been the interest
and enthusiasm amongst  the boys that this year the number of entrants swelled to seventeen, ranging from grade 8 to grade 12.

Our boys proved that they are well read and well informed, as their scores ranged from 60% to 88.82%.

Special mention must be made of  Paul Osei-Sekyere (in Grade 8) who wrote the same test as the seniors and scored 78.24%

2007


Six of our boys entered the World Knowledge Olympiad this year and did very well. Their scores range from 65% to 87%.  Brendan Savary ( Grade 9), Nicholas Leontsinis (Grade 10), Muhammed Makda, Daniel Sher, Filipe Agostinho and Tiisetso Murray (Grade 11) must all be commended for their good performance. Daniel Sher scored 81% and Nicholas Leontsinis scored 87 %. A special congratulation must go to Nicholas who was placed first in Gauteng and second in the country in the Grade 10 category. He received a gold certificate and won R1000.
